When a building undergoes a retrofit or operational change, monitoring provides the only reliable way to verify that the expected savings are being achieved. Without measured, ongoing data, it’s impossible to distinguish genuine improvement from seasonal variation or changed occupancy. Monitoring turns “we think it worked” into “we can show it worked.”
